Know EPF Claim Status Online: Every working individual wants a secured life after retirement so that they can take care of their health and other requirements without depending on anyone else and lead a comfortable retired life. So they make every effort to save enough for those days. EPF by Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) under the Ministry of Labour and Unemployment helps in achieving that goal in a structured manner.
What is EPF?
Employees Provident Fund is a saving scheme for the working class that has its perks only after the person retires. A part of the employee’s salary, generally 12% goes into his EPF account. The same amount is also paid from the employer’s end. The final amount collected is used to fund for the employees after retirement life.
Although this costs the employee a chunk of his remuneration, it is a long-term investment to reap the benefits in the future.
An EPF registration Form will be provided by the employer at the time of joining. If it is not provided, you need to check if you have been allotted a UAN number by visiting EPFO.
If you have been contributing to your EPF you can find out your EPF claim status in EPF regional office of your employer or get it online by using the Universal Account Number (UAN) and Member Id. UAN is given by an employer to his employees who are contributing to their EPF. If you haven’t accessed it yet, go the UAN portal online and activate your UAN number.
There are mainly three alternatives to get an EPF claim status. Check them out and choose the most suitable one.

1. Go to the official website for EFPO and enter the12 digit UAN number in the specified box and enter the captcha.
2. Click on your member ID if it is listed. The member id is again given by the employee itself. Know it beforehand.
3. The status will be shown on the last page if any.
Finding EPF Claim Status by a Missed Call
If you are having trouble logging in online, you can give a missed call in the number mentioned below. Call from the number which is registered in the UAN portal. The call would disconnect automatically after two rings and the EPF claim status and all other details will be sent via SMS.

Find EPF Claim Status by SMS
If you are already registered in the Unified portal having a UAN number, you can get the EFP details by sending an SMS to 7738299899 via a registered mobile number. Write the message as mentioned below.
Format: ‘EPFOHO UAN <LANGUAGE CODE>’
Example: If you want the message in Hindi, type ‘EPFOHO UAN HIN’ and send it. The details will be sent in your preferred language.
English is chosen by default. The other languages are Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannad, Bengali, and Malayalam. Fist three letters of the language form the code.
EPF can be claimed only in two conditions. Either the person has retired or the person is unemployed for at least two months. In this case, he has to get his application attested by a gazetted officer. A person cannot claim EPF while he is changing jobs.
